Hi guys,
Inspired by some Larne lads 5 years or so ago, I'm attempting to complete the 56 mile Comrades Marathon in South Africa on 2nd June. For those that don't know about the Comrades, it is the world’s oldest and biggest ultra-marathon with over 18,000 expected to take part. This year is the UP run from Durban to Pietermaritzburg...the race switches from uphill to downhill each year. Runners have 12 hours to complete the race as well as make various cut offs during it.
For training I also hope to run the Connemara Marathon on 7th April, London Marathon 21st April and Belfast Marathon on 6th May all being well.
Given flights and hotel are booked and training is going well I thought I’d start my fundraising efforts. My virgin money giving page is below, note all these events/trips are 100% self funded so all donations go direct to the charities.

I’m raising money for Anthony Nolan, a UK Charity that focuses on leukaemia and bone marrow transplants. The Anthony Nolan Register is one of three bone marrow registers in the UK, I have been on this register myself for 12 years.
For those who don’t respond to chemotherapy, a bone marrow transplant is the last chance of a cure.
I’m also raising money for Northern Ireland Children’s hospice, a charity focusing on services to life-limited children and young people and their families.
More information on the event and charities on my fund raising page.
Any donations are very much appreciated!
I will keep peeps up to date with the adventure!
Thanks!
John
